Vispring only use the highest grade, luxurious natural fillings sourced from every corner of the world, whether it be silk, bamboo, cashmere, horsetail, mohair, wool or cotton. These natural fillings have been chosen for their distinct characteristics and they’re cleverly employed by Vispring to optimise these special qualities. Vispring are the only bed manufacturer to used 100% certified Platinum British fleece wool, following a strict clipping process that causes no harm or distress to the sheep. They alone, purchase one third of all the wool produced in the Shetland Isles, and use it for its natural ‘springy’ crimp and superior insulating properties. These natural fillings are constructed in a way to promote airflow and optimise their natural capabilities such as temperature regulation and odour prevention. Each Vispring mattress on average contains a massive 4 full fleeces of wool, something unparalleled across the rest of the industry.
When you discover the depths of Vispring’s dedication to meticulous quality it is clear that the company’s foundations rest on passion and pride. Back in 1901 Vispring invented the pocket sprung mattress, which to this day is still thought as providing the ultimate comfort and support. Vispring take this legacy very seriously and today they are the only bed manufacturer to produce their own vanadium steel springs, ensuring the highest standards of perfection. These springs as taken and stitched within natural cotton calico pockets, allowing them to breathe and regulate air flow around the mattress. Vispring’s expert craftsmen hand nest the pocket springs, they use a precise number of springs for each mattress and structure them in a honeycomb pattern that acts to optimise support and comfort. Due to the nature of the hand stitching used the pocket springs don't require gluing or fixing, meaning they can move completely independently, supporting each microscopic movement you make during the night and ensuring you're supported throughout.
Every Vispring bed is side stitched by hand, including up to 6 rows of natural twine hand stitching. The craft takes many years to master, but once achieved they can provide edge to edge support which massively improves comfort and longevity. Hand stitching in this way forms thousands of contact points from the springs, the mattress border and the outer rows of the mattress upholstery. This means Vispring beds don't require the use of metal edging, and therefore provides increased comfort and allows the spring’s free movement within. All in all Hand side-stitching can take upwards of 8 hours to complete.
There’s no use in building a home, however nice, on top of poor foundations. In the same manner, a brilliant mattress needs the ideal bed in order to optimise its performance.
In order to best utilise a Vispring mattress the craftsmen at Vispring created a range of the ultimate in divan bases. By incorporating independent nested pocket springs within the divan base, as well as the mattress it not only increases the lifespan of the mattress but has a whole range of benefits from increased airflow, comfort, support and insulation. These pocket springs in the base work to counter act that of the mattress and keep your bed perfectly still throughout the night even if you’re an active sleeper, especially important if you share a bed with your partner. The solid timber frame is made from premium seasoned wood, to prevent any distortion through the changing season or as it ages, and stop any annoying creaking. To top off the ensemble try one of Vispring’s luxurious goose down pillows, available in a range of sizes.
If you already have your bedstead however fret not, Vispring also produce a range of mattresses specifically for use with bedsteads, and mattress protector pads to provide protection between your mattress and the base of you bedstead. Dissimilarly to the divan mattresses the bedstead range from Vispring includes added protection to prevent from distorted caused by slats or hard bases. Stitched into the base of the mattress is a specially made British wool protector pad, which works to distribute the weight of the mattress across your bedstead, to prevent bulging and added tension on the side stitching.
Some mattresses within the bedstead range include more comprehensive side stitching, this helps your mattress maintain its shape throughout its life and stops any sagging. We recommend that bed slats should be no further than 8cm apart, to provide the best foundation for your Vispring mattress. As an added level of protection mattress protector pads, placed between the mattress and the bedstead can further help to evenly distribute weight and tension across the entire surface area of the mattress.
Vispring offer all the customisation you could need in a bed. If storage is an issue in your bedroom then why not add storage drawers into your divan base, either side draws or a foot end drawer for narrower rooms. Adjust the height of your bed to fit the furniture and décor in your room, or your range of motion.
If you have a special bedframe like a four poster Vispring offer a service to cut out post space in the corner of your mattress, specific to your requirements. Choose from endless fine upholstery to adorn your bed, and choose whether you’d like skirted corners or a stylish mantle perhaps to conceal conjoining divans. You can specify the spring tension in each side of your mattress to ensure comfort for you and your partner, or even purchase two smaller mattresses and zip link them together, very handy for adjustable beds.
The four spring tensions in Vispring’s range are soft, medium, firm or extra firm, and we suggest coming in to Lenleys to try these out for yourself, where our experts can run through some short tests with you to check what’s right for your body.
