Duresta have been manufacturing fine upholstery since 1938. Over the years they have secured their place as one of the worlds best producers of handmade sofas and chairs. Their fabric work is renowned across the globe, as so are their quintessential English designs.

Duresta have a level of respect and dedication to the art of traditional furniture making that is entirely unparallelled throughout the industry. Their skills are passed down from generation to generation with an excellent apprenticeship scheme, and through this process they ensure knowledge is cultivated carefully and allowed to evolve with modern style. The result is a culmination of time tested craftmanship and beautiful contemporary fashion.

Quality permeates into every aspect of Duresta's production line. Their frames are made from solid beech and tulip wood, each joint is carefully glued, dowelled and screwed to ensure absolutely no warping or deviation, and their seats are coil sprung to allow for long lasting comfort. Finally Duresta's upholstery and fabric matching is second to none, with each piece of furniture being measured and planned to perfection so that patterns blend seemlessly throughout.

Strong, Durable Furniture

All of Duresta's sofa and chair frames are made from seasoned, quality hardwood, and their structure is engineered and tested thoroughly to ensure longevity and support. To complete the robust frames, they are glued, dowelled and screwed to ensure they can withstand sustained daily use for years to come.

Today's market is flooded with poor quality furniture, made with low cost composite materials and soft woods. On the surface furniture may look sturdy and durable, however with time, prolonged use and alterations in temperature these poor quality materials will begin to warp and compromise the shape and comfort of your furniture. At Lenleys we take care that we only offer the finest range of products, and not just beautifully stylish furniture, but furniture that will offer lasting support and comfort through it's lifetime.

When it comes to comfort Duresta's dedication to quality furniture doesn't falter. They use only the highest quality fillings and paddings to provide excellent long lasting comfort. At Lenleys our furniture experts can talk you through the different levels of support on offer from Duresta furniture, and help you choose the comfort you require. Duresta use different combinations of coil-sprung and serpentine sprung seating, feather and down filled cushions or you can choose a combination of feather wrapped foam seating.

Expert Pattern Matching

Duresta are world renowned for their expert fabric work and pattern matching. When looking for fabrics, Duresta will either choose exclusive fabrics from fine prestigious British mills, or commission these same mills with original patterns designed in house. The level to which they complete pattern matching is unrivalled and takes some a lifetime to learn. Matching mutliple upholstered components of a single piece of furniture, keeping the intricate pattern continuous and sewing precision seams is a great source of pride for the Duresta team, and each item is treated like it's own work of art.

To complete the most complicated designs, the fabric must first be analysed by the design team and from here they can create a detailed fabric template. This template acts like a grid, showing the upholstery team exactly where to cut and seam. The team must then take into account the direction of the pile in the fabric and any intersections in the design in order to get a seamless finish.

You can choose your own selection of fabrics, contrast piping and sections, and even in some instances supply your own fabric, or a fabric you would like Duresta to match. Speak to one of our furniture experts in store to further explore these options.

Maintaining Quality

Duresta helps to pass on their decades of knowledge via their fantastic apprenticeship scheme. In fact a large portion of their workforce are past Duresta apprentices who have now stayed on with the company, some for 30-40 years.

This level of committment to their workforce ensures the quality of their furniture for years to come, and maintains their standards throughout.

Most high volume furniture manufacturers will use seasonal workers, some of whom are placed on the assembly line after a few days training. When you compare the level of quality with what Duresta can achieve, it's clear to see the benefit of investing in training and quality.
